TUESDAY JUNE 21

Lecture :: The Last Years of Imperial Berlin, World War I and the Weimar Republic

Professor Jones reviews the tumultuous and fateful years leading up to the calamitous rise of Nazism

THE GERMAN HISTORY MUSEUM

We tour this exceptionally fine history museum to learn more about Berlin’s unstable entry into the 20th century

BAUHAUS MUSEUM

Arguably the most important design movement of the first half of the 20th century, the museum contains design icons while at the same time providing a window into the great cultural optimism that flourished before the raise of Nazism

DIE BRUCKE ART MUSEUM

We tour this museum dedicated to the artists of ‘Die Brucke’ as the German Expressionist of the Weimar were known

Lecture :: The Rise of Nazism and World War II

Professor Jones discusses this uniquely traumatic era in German and, indeed, world history

TOPOGRAPHY OF TERROR

We tour this comprehensive museum of the Third Reich’s SS and Gestapo

BERLINER UNTERWELTEN

We go below the streets of Berlin to tour bunkers and other still extant evidence of the WW II

Lecture :: Divided Germany and the Cold War

Professor Jones unpacks this period of complex stand off between the major powers and a defeated Germany
